- Jackson County is well-known for producing very good whitetails. There is an abundant population of turkey on the ranch. The fishing and boating/kayaking opportunities on the lake and on the Chipola River are second-to-none in Florida. The Chipola is one of the most beautiful rivers in the state.
Jackson County is a big-buck producer. It has held the title of #1 ranked county in Florida by Game and Fish Magazine several years.
The area is known for its good habitat and good nutrition for deer, with a great deal of agriculture across the not very populated county. The same soils that raise good beef, timber, and crops raise super whitetails.
With the food sources already on Southern Cattle Company, combined with great water and habitat, it is no surprise that those big Jackson County bucks, as well as exceptional populations of turkey, are raised on this property.
